I was born, raised, and educated in Colorado. After a stint with Peace Corps in Thailand, and a job resettling Laotian refugees in camps in Thailand, I came to British Columbia to get my Masters Degree. There I met my future wife, Signy, we got married, and settled in the interior of the province to start our family and careers. I set up a studio/gallery, painted, taught art for Cariboo College and the City of Kamloops, and had a freelance illustration and cartography business until I was offered a job at Canadian Geographic Magazine in Ottawa. We have now lived in Ottawa over 20 years, and our kids have grown into wonderful, intelligent, creative, principaled young adults. My work with the magazine has won many national and international awards over the years. I split my time between my work for the magazine, my studio work, teaching painting, and my community work of various sorts. My wife and I have started teaching childbirth classes for couples. My work has been represented the last number of years at Artguise Gallery in Ottawa <www.artguise.ca>
